(8:33 am - 08.17.2003 - static-x show - i feel  ) yeah. haven't written in awhile. no reason really. mom came home about a week ago, so basically i've been sleeping, and then running off to work. i still haven't got to write about the static-x show, which was amazing! jeanette and i were both in great moods, and the opening bands (malaria and lo-pro) were good. malaria was an all girl band, and their drummer was damn good. lo-pro was pretty good too. their guitarist (neil) was damn good. i swear he kept on looking at me, and later i found out he was. we were standing outside, waiting for wayne to come off the bus, and i look over near lo-pro's bus, and neil catches my eye, and points right at me. he was talking to some kids, but he was done, he walked over to jeanette and i. he asked my name and thanked us for being into the show. damn nice guy. you can see jeanette and neil here we also met the lead singer for lo-pro, pete. you can see jeanette and pete here. so yeah, lo-pro was pretty good, nice guys too. anyhow... then it was static time... i was so hyper. we had a great spot too. since we got there a little late, we couldn't get in the pit, and i don't think i really wanted to either. we had a nice little spot on the bar where i could be comfortable, and jeanette could see! i know i have a list of what they played somewhere, but i can't find it. jeanette and i were both pretty pumped to hear fix but they didn't play it! they did play the intro to machine though, which was pretty cool, and they played 3 new songs. i was screaming "tripp!" so loudly, i felt like such an ass. i got some pretty good ones in though... because he kept on looking over at us, and later on he was on stage, looking for a way to get on these big black boxes that were in front of us.. and he did. he got off stage and climbed up on top of these boxes just for me. it was pretty awesome. i know i was pretty excited and jeanette was screaming "he came over here just for you!" fun times. the set was incredibly short. i was looking forward to the show for so long, even if they would have played every song 3 times it would have been too short. they threw out tons of picks, especially tripp. i found one of tony's picks on the floor. we went outside and i went to the car to get tripps stuff. i had brought him fluff, a bracelet and redi-whip. his favorites. it was only about 10-15 minutes before tony came out. then tripp came off the bus. everyone was crowding all over him, but we just stood back... waiting. he didn't look too happy though, for some reason. finally the crowd thinned out a bit and there only a few people standing around tripp. this one girl in front of us showed him her tattoo and got him to sign her arm. he told her to hang out... i was so freaking jealous! after about 15 minutes we finally walked up to tripp. i gave him the fluff and redi-whip and he thanked me. he saw his old guitar pick around my neck and reached into his pocket and said "here's a new pick for you." and like a million spilled out of his pocket. it was pretty cute. i asked him a few questions. we both got pictures with him, and then, he sort of whispered in my ear "to stick around and hang out." jeanette and i walked away and she turned to me, and i freaked out! she was like "wow! tripp told you to hang out!" we were waiting for wayne to come off the bus forever. that's when we met the lo-pro guys. tony was just hanging out with these 2 groupies. the tour manager opened the bus door, and told everyone: "ok, wayne will come out, but you have to line up." so everyone got in line. jeanette and i went to the very back. after about 3 minutes, i saw tripp come off the bus and go around the back... then he showed up behind us. he opened up a compartment underneath the bus and was rooting around for something. i told him i forgot to give him a bracelet i made for him. he pulled out 2 posters for us and i slipped the bracelet on his wrist. it was pretty cool that he gave us posters, cause i didn't have anything for them to sign. i talked to him a bit more, but it seemed he was kind of uninterested, and he was on the phone, so i just thanked him. thankfully it was good timing though, cause it was our turn to meet wayne. good lord. wayne static is so fucking normal! i told him the new songs sounded great and he seemed to really care and thanked me. then i told him i was pretty mad that they didn't play fix and he said that they'd play it next time they came here. i asked him for a pick, but he didn't have any on him and said he's not as thoughtful as tripp is. he put his arm around me in our picture. i just can't get over how normal and nice he was. so, jeanette and i were standing there looking at nick talking to these 2 girls. we felt kind of weird just walking up to him when he was talking to these two sluts... but we did, and he was really cool. i thought he would have just been like "yeah, whatever, sign this, and get out of here..." but he was really nice. the poster had ken jay in it, and he drew some dreads over his hair, and it ended up looking like nick. i told him he did a good job and he said "i always kinda wanted to be an artist." and i looked at him weird and said, "well, you kind of are an artist..." and he said "oh yeah!" when we were walking to the car, we saw tripp talking to one of the girls from malaria, and he saw us, and smiled, waved and said goodbye. pretty nice. i thanked him and we left. so, i ended up leaving with a signed poster, a guitar pick from tony and tripp, and a hug from wayne. and pictures with nick, tripp and wayne. see jeanette with nick, see jeanette with tripp, see jeanette with wayne! the picture of jeanette and tripp is the funniest thing i've ever seen. she forgot to wind the camera after our picture, so when i went to take the picture of them, it wouldn't take cause it needed to be wound... so i did that quickly and took the picture like a second later, and they weren't quite ready for it. i defintely have that picture on the dashboard in my car. i crack up every time i look at it. so, all in all, it was a good nite. i wish tripp would have been in a better mood, but wayne totally made up for it. and considering they're releasing shadow zone on october 9th, they should be back in town soon! after all that screaming for tripp, i lost my voice for over a week! i finally got it back a few days ago. i really have a loud mouth! and that's my static-x wrap up! ~*~liz << - >> if you really loved me, you'd buy me presents |
