(9:21 pm - 06.18.2003 - powerman 5000 show - i feel  ) ok, so i finally get to write about the pm5k show! yay.... well, for me. i ended up getting there about 20 minutes before the doors opened, and really there weren't very many people in line, so i just waited in my car. once the let people in, i went upstairs to check out the view from the bar. eh. but, i went right to my most favorite spot, on the "sort of" second level, right by the speakers to the left of the stage. ahh. comfort. first band. reach 454. not too bad. not that good either. kinda eh. but after the second band, shinedown, came on, i realized just how good reach 454 was. people were screaming at shinedown, telling them they sucked, and to get off the stage.. one guy called the lead singer a bret michaels look alike.. i didn't think so.. definitely shannon hoon though. man, they were bad. i felt bad for them too. but as soon as they handed out free shit, everyone seemed to be into them. figures. but the crowd was tiny. seriously, i could count the people there. while they change the stage, they play music, well for the first band, they played qotsa, for the second, they played deftones, and for pm5k they played the clash. i was almost brought to tears. wah. i'm such a loser. it's so cool to know that spider was into joe strummer and he actually thanked him on the new cd. but anyhow... then it was time for powerman 5000. bocan (the overnite dj from the x) got to announce all 3 bands, but his mic never worked. it was funny. the stage was all dark, and the first one out was adrien. everyone went crazy. he was just sitting behind his drum set, then siggy comes out and tells adrien to do something. then the second spider stepped on the stage, everyone went crazy. i know they started out with something off of tonite the stars revolt!... the songs they played were supernova goes pop

car crash during 'transform' spider forgot the lyrics: "there you wanna, gonna get, first time, last place. nothing stays the same here, including your name." instead he said "i forget the words to my own damn song." heh. i'm not too positive that they played 'stereotype' though. a bunch of guys were shouting "bombshell", but of course, they didn't play it. sucks. pretty short set though, but damn good. the sound, spider, everything sounded great. the crowd was just so small though. i felt bad. they kept on saying that it was the last nite that metropol would be open.. so the mood was kinda weird. (but after talking to bocan i found out that a guy from the steelers bought metropol and is going to keep it open.. but hopefully it won't turn into a rap club or anything). they didn't take an encore or anything either. they just stayed on the stage the whole time. but when it was over, it was over. at the end mike tried to throw his guitar pick to me, but i missed it. i thought someone behind me caught it, but after they put the lights on, this kid came up and it was right in between my feet, and he freaking took it! ugh! so i went outside, and it was raining. but the second i looked down by the loading dock, i saw ardien. rawr. i walked down to him and said hi. he told me he saw me singing along with all the words and thanked me for coming. we talked a little more about his amazing stage presence. he's a pretty entertaining drummer too. so then he went back inside, and i ran over to my car to get my cd. and the second i look back up across the street, i see spider one! ahh! so i grabbed my cd, and ran back across the street. about 7 people were standing all around spider talking to him, so i just stood back, and he noticed me standing there, and he kinda pushed the other people aside and said "i saw you out there. you sang every single word. you made this whole show worth it. thank you." i was still thinking about joe strummer, and i was so stunned that spider was actually in front of me, i just looked up at him, looked away really quickly and said "spider... i... i... i love you. please promise me you won't ever die like joe strummer did." and he looked at me and said "he was my favorite. i promise i'll be around for a long time." and we talked a little about joe (there were little tears welling up in his eyes), tears were streaming down my cheeks. we talked a little about the show, and the new album, and then he needed to get back inside.. so he looked down at me, and said "i need to give you a hug, can i?" yeah. i was the only person he hugged! hehe. he hugged me, and i was so happy i almost bit his shoulder. then he said "see you soon." and went inside. *sigh* happiness.. i was so elated that i had to go and stand against the pop machines for support. and while i was standing there this nice girl comes up and talks to me. she was a doll. her friend gave me a bunch of streetteaming shit. and then i saw mike.. and i walked over to him and he asked if i got his guitar pick. i said no, some kid took it from me and he gave me another one. pretty weird nite though. i ended up crying the whole way home. i just don't even know why. just a weird nite. and i was sad about metropol. and i love spider. heh. i did take a camera, but the freaking flash didn't work, so i don't even know if the pictures i took will turn out. so unfair. just like when i met brandon boyd. no evidence besides a signature. bah. so that's pretty much everything that happened that nite. *sigh* memories. ~*~liz << - >> if you really loved me, you'd buy me presents |
