(2:27 pm - 07.13.2003 - foo fighters show - i feel )

*deleted* funny how you can just erase all that honesty. everything is funny! =P

so, the foo fighters. july 9th, 2003. i picked up amira around noon and we went to the market (heh) and got a camera or 2, some gum, and pretzels! we got there about 12:30, due to my insane driving. i pulled into the spot right next to these 2 girls sitting on the hood of their car. amira got in line. obviously we were there freaking early, and there were only 4 people in front of us. 2 sisters, and 2 friends. all girls. then later on these 5 16 year old boys showed up. there were funny to say the least. amira and i played uno with 2 of them. the dan kid won, and he was extremely funny about winning. good times. alan cox, from the x was broadcasting there. i don't see why people think he's so attractive. everyone knows i swoon over stoner mike. rawr.... anyhow...

we waited forever. we formed our "front row family" the 4 girls, the 6 boys, and amira and i. how freaking cute! finally they opened the gates and we all ran to get a spot. my hidden bottle of water fell out of my pants, and i knew i couldn't go back and pick it up. damn. i got right behind our cute tiny friend, mel. amira was a little farther down, but i knew this was my spot. my morning jacket came on. not too bad. you couldn't see any of their faces, except for the guitarist, cause they all had long 80's metal hair. but they definitely weren't metal. set change. pete yorn time. i don't know what i think about pete yorn. i know i yawned during his entire set. i did take 2 pictures of him though. just incase. i don't like missed opportunites much. longer set change.

foo time. of course the drunkest woman on the face of the earth gets right behind me, pushing into me, saying "i'm 28, i have a 10 year old kid, and i never get to get out, all bets are off!" then she screams "wooooooo!" in my ear, over and over. heh. i guess it comes with the territory though.

lights drop. first foo i see is taylor. this is the second band to look exactly like they do when you see them in print. (the other was powerman 5000). then, all of a sudden, dave grohl is right in front of me. literally like 3 feet away, with his arms up in the air. lights finally come on, and the crowd is going nuts. they break right into all my life, and it's a roller coaster ride after that. the set list in order consisted of:

all my life
my hero
the one
have it all
generator
learn to fly
for all the cows
this is a call
stacked actors
low
hey j.p.
monkeywrench
tired
times like these
aurora
everlong

encore break in between times like these and aurora. goddamn. i think right around hey j.p. is the time i died. so thirsty. this is the first concert i've been to, where they didn't give the pit any water. umm, hello, it's july, there's a million sweaty people crammmed together, even thought it's nite time, it's still hot, come on! common sense. i can't believe i stayed right in front of dave the whole time though. most of the people in the pit were nice though. a few of them actually said "i'm sorry for this!" well, it's a pit, it's what happens. there was only one guy that was intent on stepping on my feet. that's ok, i got him back.

this was the first time that the foo fighters played pittsburgh. so, dave apologized to everyone in the front row. i took a picture as soon as he got to me, so hopefully it'll turn out nice. i took a lot of good photos. when the one by one backdrop dropped to reveal the ff logo, that was pretty awesome. i was so freaking excited when they played stacked actors, and aurora (which i tried to put on someone's mix tape, but it didn't quite work. and stacked actors has been on my car mix tape for like 2 years now. still haven't gotten tired of it. heh. i kinda wish they would have played i'll stick aroundyou'd think the encore would have consisted of a little more than 2 songs, but whatever.

afterwards, i got a set list, and almost caught the drum head. damnit! but then i started to look for amira. well, she found me and called out my name. i was walking up to her and she had the saddest/most pissed off face i've ever seen. she said that like 3 songs into the set, she got kicked in the head, and left the pit! that sucks so much! i felt sooooo bad. yes, all 5 o's too. they even played her favorite song, aurora, and she couldn't even enjoy it. i wanted to cry for her. ugh. so we walked out to the car, where i drank some water and changed back into my flip flops, and we were waiting for the band to show up outside. there was a huge freaking crowd around the bus. apparently, they came right out of the venue, and went right on the bus and left. jack! that sucked. i do think i would have pissed my pants if i would have got to touch dave grohl. i mean, dave grohl, come on! so, we just left. i had to put something down on my seat so i didn't get a million peoples sweat all over it. i was fucking soaking wet. disgusting! we stopped at taco bell on the way home, cause we both we starving, and the guys working there were extremely weird. i dropped off amira, and went home. i dragged myself inside, leaving everything in the car. i was so exhausted, i didn't care. i immediately took a shower, even though all i wanted to do was sleep. after my shower, i tried eating a taco, but, seriously, didn't even have enough energy to do that, so basically, i just passed out. slept until noon the next day.

i didn't get any bruises! except for one on the palm of my hand, but it's not a visible bruise, it's just freaking sore from holding onto the barricade so tightly. note to self: do not wear those jeans in a pit ever again. all in all, it was a great show, but it would have been 100x better if amira would have had a good time too. blah. =( yeah, so i guess that's about it. heh.
